Obituary for Fred E. Hackett

LITTLE VALLEY — Fred E. Hackett, 92, of Little Valley, passed away Saturday (March 24, 2018) at Absolut of Allegany.
He was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Bradford, Pa., the son of the late Almarion and Ora (Collins) Hackett.
Mr. Hackett had helped on the family dairy farm in Strykersville, and then was a truck driver for many years at Boss Linco of Buffalo, and a member of the Teamsters Union.
He was a volunteer for ECHO, attended the 1st Congregational Church in Little Valley, and also volunteered with the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging with entertainment with dancing. He also liked to ride motorcycles.
Mr. Hackett was predeceased by his first wife, Verona (Ace) Hackett. On March 12, 1994, he married the former Betty Jane Hakes-Chapman, who survives.
Besides his loving wife of 24 years, he is survived by three daughters, Lynn Green of Rochester, Dianne (Norman) Becker of Cazenovia and Lorie Ewell of Maynardsville,Tenn.; a stepson, Edward (Karen) Chapman of East Otto; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Loretta Prefontaine of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Doris Stewart and Clara LaCorte.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (March 26, 2018) at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St. in Little Valley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (March 27, 2018) from the funeral home. Burial will be in Varysburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Little Valley Ambulance Service.
